A pedestrian was killed in a hit and run accident in the central Las Vegas Valley on Thursday. The victim of the hit and run fatality was local Las Vegas woman, age 46. She was struck by a white pickup that fled the scene immediately after the accident, representatives from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. Police received the call about the hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Las Vegas roads a little after 10 pm on Thursday night. By the time they arrived at the scene of the pedestrian accident at West Charleston Boulevard and Scholl Avenue just past Torrey Pines Drive, the woman had already died at the scene of the incident. Security footage of the hit and run pedestrian accident show the Las Vegas local woman crossing the street on West Charleston Boulevard outside of a crosswalk when the white pickup truck, driving eastbound, struck and killed her.
After the initial call, Las Vegas Metro Police Department was able to find and arrest the driver in the pickup truck because he reportedly returned to the scene of the crime. The driver responsible for this hit and run pedestrian accident in Southern Nevada has been identified as Aubrey Hooper, also a local to Las Vegas. Hooper is 39 years old. The model of the pickup truck he was driving when he killed a pedestrian on Clark County roads was a Ford F150 truck. Las Vegas Metro Police arrested Hooper on charges of hit and run, and for driving while impaired, specifically while on drugs. According to Sgt. Robert Shaffuer, a police officer at the scene of the accident, “If the person had stayed behind, it would likely be- obviously be a much less serious offense.” The officer was reiterating an important fact for Nevada Driving Law, if you flee the scene of an accident, the charges levied against you will be way worse than if you stay and cooperate with authorities. Although the pedestrian victim of this traffic fatality has not yet been identified, the Clark County Coroner’s Office has said the will identify her once next of kin has been notified.
