Benson & Bingham is pleased to announce that Samantha Schwartz was has been awarded the winner of our annual scholarship by partners Joe Benson and Ben Bingham. Ms. Schwartz has been accepted to attend Harvard Law School after completing her undergraduate degree at UCLA. She is the second winner of our annual scholarship accepted by Harvard Law School – Felipe Hernandez was selected the winner of our First Annual Scholarship in 2018. Ms. Schwartz will be the beneficiary of our grand prize award of $2,000 to be applied to her law school studies.
The firm received a dozen submissions this year from applicants across the country, with most selecting to opine on the merits of filing a product’s liability lawsuit based on Tesla’s marketing practice of a “full self-driving” car. Ms. Schwartz submitted her essay on this topic – look for Benson & Bingham to publish her winning essay on our site in the weeks to come.
In addition, Benson & Bingham is pleased to announce that Justin McPherson and Breanna Franzoni are the winners of the two runner-up prizes for $250. Mr. McPherson, who is currently attending Saint Louis University School of Law, chose to discuss the other topic: the negative effects to the public of medical malpractice cases being capped at $350,000 vs. the benefits to insurance companies in Nevada. Ms. Franzoni is a recent graduate from Siena College in Loudonville, NY and will be seeking her Master’s degree in Law and Policy at Vermont Law School.
