There has been a recent police update on the condition of a man injured in a car accident about a week ago in Las Vegas, and it is the worst kind of update there is. The man, a 64 year old from Las Vegas, “succumbed to his injuries” in the words of the Las Vegas Metro Police news release. This was the 37th person to be killed in the Las Vegas Metro Police area of coverage this year in traffic related incidents. The Las Vegas car accident happened on the 9th of this month. It took place a little after seven thirty in the morning. A Honda Civic, 2010 model, was being driven by the deceased, a man named Jacinto Belen Lopez, when it and another vehicle collided in an intersection, the intersection of Arville Street and Hacienda Avenue, to be exact. The other driver, a 32 year old woman from Las Vegas, sustained minor injuries, at least as listed originally. The Honda CRV she was driving, a 2008 model, heading west on Hacienda Drive. The vehicle driven by the man killed in this Las Vegas car accident, again a 2010 Civic, was heading south on Arville Street coming into the intersection. The last line of the April 13, 2017 Las Vegas Metro Police press release update on this deadly Las Vegas car accident remains the same as the previous press release, but it is a piece of evidence nonetheless:
“The driver of the CRV did not show any signs of impairment and cooperated with investigators. The cause of this collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.”
The driver who passed away was originally brought to the University Medical Center Trauma Center with what was listed as a “critical” injury at the time. Four days later he, Jacinto Belen Lopez, was pronounced dead at the same facility.
