Good Samaritan Injured in Hit and Run Accident in Las Vegas

They say no good deed goes unpunished and unfortunately we have a new piece of evidence for that claim, stemming from a recent injury accident in Las Vegas where a man who stopped to help another driver who had been in a car accident was hit by a third vehicle as he was helping the woman. In a cruel twist of fate, and terrible piece of irony, the car that hit this good Samaritan did not stop to help or even see if the man was OK – the vehicle drove away, making this a hit and run accident. The driver of the vehicle that caused the hit and run injury accident in Southern Nevada, a white Mitsubishi, was eventually apprehended, however, and arrested. His vehicle had quite fittingly gotten a flat tire, presumably from the accident, and he and his passenger were found changing it in a parking lot off of Interstate 95, on Jones Boulevard. If you’re in an injury accident in Southern Nevada and need an attorney, call Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law to get the best service, and the best compensation possible, in the Las Vegas Valley.

The original accident occurred early this morning on the Decatur Boulevard on-ramp to Interstate 95. A woman, who was allegedly driving under the influence in Las Vegas, is reported to have lost control of her green Toyota Scion and hit a concrete wall. She did not sustain injuries in the crash. The victim of the hit and run stopped to help, and was then hit by the aforementioned white Mitsubishi sometime just after 4 in the morning. The man was severely injured from this auto accident, and taken to University Medical Center in Southern Nevada. He was listed in critical condition as of our most recent update. If you are hurt in an accident like this and need a lawyer, Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law should be your first call. Restaurant Reopened Following Injury Accident — Las Vegas

Finally some happy news from a story we’ve written about several times involving an injury accident in Las Vegas when a car crashed into a local eatery. The restaurant, The Egg and I, located on West Sahara Avenue near the intersection of Avila Street, had been shuttered temporarily over a month ago because of damages to the facility. The restaurant was closed after a sensational accident left 10 people injured in Southern Nevada after a car lost control, due to the driver allegedly driving under the influence in Clark County, and crashed into the busy local eatery during business hours. In a silver lining for the restaurant owners, the forced closure gave them the opportunity to do some much needed interior remodeling of the restaurant. They also saw the need for some additional protection on the patio, placing some enormous boulders there as protection and insurance against something like this ever happening again. If you’re in an injury accident and need a lawyer in Las Vegas, call Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law for a free consultation. Our legal experts understand personal injury law, and can get you the best possible compensation for your injury.

The injury accident in Clark County took place on April 1st. The 18 year old driving the vehicle has been charged with driving drunk, as well as attempting to flee the scene of the accident following the accident where the vehicle he was driving slammed into the restaurant. As previously mentioned, 10 people were injured, some of them seriously, and taken to various hospitals in the area. Some of the people who suffered injuries were purportedly trapped under the vehicle where it came to a rest inside the restaurant itself. Do you need a lawyer – were you injured in an accident like this in Southern Nevada? Bill in State Legislature Aims to Reduce Motorcycle Accidents in Las Vegas

April 30th, 2013 No comments

Motorcycle riders love Nevada. The climate – warm, dry, and lovely open spaces – make it an ideal place for many riders. Nevada, however, does not have one critical thing that would cut down on motorcycles being rear ended in injury accidents in Southern Nevada: lane splitting. Many states, including California, allow motorcycle riders to skip through traffic by sharing lanes with cars. This prevents motorcycle riders from being rear ended in stop and go traffic, which can cause serious injury even if the accident only occurs at 5 or 10 miles per hour. If a member of the Nevada State Assembly has his way, though, this could change. This assemblyman has proposed allowing lane sharing in Nevada, a measure aimed at lowering motorcycle accidents in Las Vegas. If you’re injured in a motorcycle accident anywhere in Clark County, contact Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law. We know accident law, we know motorcycle and personal injury law, and we can help you get the compensation you deserve.

The bill, Assembly Bill 236, has already passed through half of the Nevada State Legislature, having cleared the Nevada State Assembly with strong support from both political parties, garnering 35 “yea” votes out of a possible 42. It likely had to do with a broad base of support, including both individual citizens as well as groups of motorcycle enthusiasts and representatives of the Nevada Department of Public Safety. All these groups and individuals testified, at least in part, that this measure would lower motorcycle accidents in the Las Vegas Valley, among other places. It was also stressed that motorcycle riders can still get speeding tickets in Las Vegas for going too fast while lane splitting; the bill specifically says you have to keep it to 10 miles per hour or less above the speed the other traffic is moving. The bill still has to pass through the Nevada State Senate and be signed by the Governor before it becomes law.

Even though lane splitting may soon be legal, motorcycle injury accidents in the Las Vegas area will still happen. If you are unlucky enough to be involved in a motorcycle accident in Southern Nevada, you need legal representation you can count on. Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law have been representing people injured in motor cycle accidents for years. Our firm prides itself on not only getting you the compensation you need to get your life back together, but also on our customer service that will make you feel like a valued client and customer, not a number. Call Benson & Bingham for your free consultation today.

More details on strategy to reduce car accidents in Southern Nevada

April 23rd, 2013 No comments

More details have emerged on the over 650 traffic tickets that were issued recently as part of an enforcement strategy to cut down on the number of auto accidents in Southern Nevada. Police officials from all over Southern Nevada, including the Henderson Police Department,  Boulder City Police, the Nevada Highway Patrol, Mesquite Police, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, have been focusing on issuing traffic tickets in Henderson, Nevada (in Clark County), in recent weeks. This is part of a broader program to lower the number of injury accidents in Clark County. Here at Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law, we pride ourselves on giving people who are injured in accidents great service, both personally and legally, and getting them the compensation and peace of mind they need following an unfortunate incident on the road.

The aforementioned enforcement, over a period of three weeks, netted 520 traffic tickets for blowing through red lights, 132 more tickets for operating a cell phone behind the wheel, and many more tickets for offenses ranging from driving without proper insurance coverage to driving on a suspended or revoked license, registration violations, and the like. While it may seem strange for police officers from so many jurisdictions to focus so much effort on seemingly minor traffic violations, there is a distinct strategy at play here. The general purpose is to make people more aware when they are behind the wheel, in order to prevent motor vehicle accidents in the Las Vegas Valley. Keep in mind that, according to officials with the Office of Traffic Safety in Nevada’s Department of Public Safety, 2012 saw 258 people die as a result of crashes on the streets in Nevada. Pedestrian deaths from vehicle crashes in Southern Nevada also claimed the lives of another 42 people. Already 78 people have lost their lives on Nevada’s streets this year.

If you’re injured in a car accident in Southern Nevada, we invite you come visit our experienced staff here at Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law. We pride ourselves not only on our ability to get the most compensation for you with the least hassle, we pride ourselves on our customer service, on making sure you know we are taking care of you, that we care about you and your case. Community members are demanding action to make the intersection safer before another person is injured at this Las Vegas intersection. This had been a bad year for accidents and deaths from traffic accidents in Clark County; so far the number of fatal accidents is on pace to set a tragic record with 36 people having already been fatally wounded on city streets and roadways.

At this particular intersection, residents believe that such terrible occurrences could easily be prevented. They believe that, without changes such as a traffic light or even a flashing signal, there will continue to be pedestrians who are injured in car crashes at this Las Vegas intersection.

The exact details and story of this accident in Southern Nevada are still being investigated.

Community members are not satisfied, and feel that more needs to be done to prevent horrible tragedies like this from happening in the future.
