Good Samaritan Injured in Hit and Run Accident in Las Vegas

They say no good deed goes unpunished and unfortunately we have a new piece of evidence for that claim, stemming from a recent injury accident in Las Vegas where a man who stopped to help another driver who had been in a car accident was hit by a third vehicle as he was helping the woman. In a cruel twist of fate, and terrible piece of irony, the car that hit this good Samaritan did not stop to help or even see if the man was OK – the vehicle drove away, making this a hit and run accident. The driver of the vehicle that caused the hit and run injury accident in Southern Nevada, a white Mitsubishi, was eventually apprehended, however, and arrested. His vehicle had quite fittingly gotten a flat tire, presumably from the accident, and he and his passenger were found changing it in a parking lot off of Interstate 95, on Jones Boulevard. If you’re in an injury accident in Southern Nevada and need an attorney, call Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law to get the best service, and the best compensation possible, in the Las Vegas Valley.

The original accident occurred early this morning on the Decatur Boulevard on-ramp to Interstate 95. A woman, who was allegedly driving under the influence in Las Vegas, is reported to have lost control of her green Toyota Scion and hit a concrete wall. She did not sustain injuries in the crash. The victim of the hit and run stopped to help, and was then hit by the aforementioned white Mitsubishi sometime just after 4 in the morning. The man was severely injured from this auto accident, and taken to University Medical Center in Southern Nevada. He was listed in critical condition as of our most recent update. If you are hurt in an accident like this and need a lawyer, Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law should be your first call. We can not only take care of your case, securing the best possible outcome for your claim, we take care of you as a valued client and customer.

Bicyclist Hurt in Injury Accident on the Las Vegas Strip

April 27th, 2013 1 comment

The Las Vegas Strip can be a dangerous place for pedestrians and bicyclists, with many injury accidents in Southern Nevada occurring right in front of the neon lights and thousands of visitors and vacationers that crowd this iconic and world famous locale. This was unfortunately the case again overnight as a bicyclist was struck from behind by a vehicle in an injury accident in Las Vegas. The bicyclist, a 58 year old man, was brought to University Medical Center, according to police, and was suffering from critical injuries at time of admission. If you or a loved one is injured in an auto accident in Clark County, Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law will take care of the legal details for you while you focus on getting better. Our law firm was founded in 2003, and we have been helping people injured in auto accidents get the compensation they deserve ever since.

The accident in question was said to have taken place a little after midnight Friday morning, in the neighborhood of the Circus Circus casino on Las Vegas Boulevard. It was described by police as a vehicle, said to have been a Kia Spectra, model year 2007, hitting the man on his bicycle from behind. The man driving the Kia Spectra, a 21 year old man from Las Vegas, was not charged with any crimes as of yet in this injury accident on the Las Vegas Strip.

These types of car accidents, where a vehicle strikes an unwitting bicyclist or causes a pedestrian injury in Southern Nevada, happen all the time in the Las Vegas Area. When something like this happens, the last thing the injured person wants to worry about is having to fight by themselves for the coverage they need to get better, to pay their medical bills, to cover time lost at work. If you’re injured, you also don’t want to have to search to find good legal representation, nor do you want to feel unimportant to your lawyer. This is why Benson & Bingham get tons of referrals from past clients: we take care of the details for you, but what’s more, your case is important to us. That’s why our lawyers answer the phone, not secretaries or middle men, and we communicate with you every step of the way. And of course, we get you the most compensation possible for your claim, as we have been for our clients since our law firm opened in 2003.

More details on strategy to reduce car accidents in Southern Nevada

April 23rd, 2013 No comments

More details have emerged on the over 650 traffic tickets that were issued recently as part of an enforcement strategy to cut down on the number of auto accidents in Southern Nevada. Police officials from all over Southern Nevada, including the Henderson Police Department,  Boulder City Police, the Nevada Highway Patrol, Mesquite Police, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, have been focusing on issuing traffic tickets in Henderson, Nevada (in Clark County), in recent weeks. This is part of a broader program to lower the number of injury accidents in Clark County. Here at Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law, we pride ourselves on giving people who are injured in accidents great service, both personally and legally, and getting them the compensation and peace of mind they need following an unfortunate incident on the road.

The aforementioned enforcement, over a period of three weeks, netted 520 traffic tickets for blowing through red lights, 132 more tickets for operating a cell phone behind the wheel, and many more tickets for offenses ranging from driving without proper insurance coverage to driving on a suspended or revoked license, registration violations, and the like. While it may seem strange for police officers from so many jurisdictions to focus so much effort on seemingly minor traffic violations, there is a distinct strategy at play here. The general purpose is to make people more aware when they are behind the wheel, in order to prevent motor vehicle accidents in the Las Vegas Valley. Keep in mind that, according to officials with the Office of Traffic Safety in Nevada’s Department of Public Safety, 2012 saw 258 people die as a result of crashes on the streets in Nevada. Pedestrian deaths from vehicle crashes in Southern Nevada also claimed the lives of another 42 people. Already 78 people have lost their lives on Nevada’s streets this year.

If you’re injured in a car accident in Southern Nevada, we invite you come visit our experienced staff here at Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law. We pride ourselves not only on our ability to get the most compensation for you with the least hassle, we pride ourselves on our customer service, on making sure you know we are taking care of you, that we care about you and your case. We’ll communicate with you every step of the way, and talk with you any time you call – our lawyers answer the phones, so you’ll never feel put off by a secretary or middle man.

One Dead in Vehicle Accident in North Las Vegas

April 21st, 2013 No comments

A tragic accident occurred in North Las Vegas on Friday night, per a spokesperson from that police department. A man was killed as he was driving his vehicle as a result of a suspected accident due to another driver driving under the influence of alcohol in North Las Vegas. Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law have been representing people hurt in accidents in the Las Vegas Valley since 2003. If you or a loved one is injured, or god forbid killed, in an accident anywhere in Southern Nevada, call our experienced legal team today. We can help.

The accident in North Las Vegas occurred sometime in the early afternoon on Friday. Officers from the North Las Vegas Police Department were called to the scene of the accident in question somewhat after 5pm on Friday, April 19th. The incident occurred on Craig Road, immediately to the east of Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard, at the intersection of Home Depot Drive. The 54 year old man was deceased when police arrived on the scene. He was stuck inside of the vehicle he had been driving, a Ford sedan, which had crashed into a light post in North Las Vegas.

Early indications of the investigation led police to believe that the Ford sedan was making a right turn off of Craig Road and onto Home Depot Drive when it was struck from behind by a Hyundai Sport Utility Vehicle, which was being driven by a 27 year old woman. This auto vehicle accident in Clark County made the Ford lose control and strike the light pole where police later found the vehicle, with the deceased inside. The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident, the Hyundai SUV, was booked on a felony charge.

When accidents happen, picking up the pieces can sometimes be just as painful as the accident itself. If you or a loved one is injured in an accident anywhere in Las Vegas, our attorneys at Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law can help. You have a choice when it comes to your legal representation, and that’s why our lawyers and staff at Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law pride ourselves on our service. Pedestrian injured in vehicle hit-and-run accident in Clark County

April 20th, 2013 No comments

Las Vegas and Clark County in general are dangerous places for pedestrians. Despite much attention and attempts at prevention from police and other law enforcement and public safety agencies and groups, there still remain a high number of pedestrians involved in auto accidents in Southern Nevada. From the middle of August, 2008, to the summer of 2011, for example, there were 2,060 accidents in the Las Vegas valley involving cars and pedestrians. Should a vehicle ever strike you as you’re walking in a pedestrian right of way anywhere in the Las Vegas Valley, call Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law. We know your rights, and can make sure that you are adequately covered in the event of an accident in which you are not at fault. If you’re not sure if you’re at fault, call our legal team today. For instance, you may not know that pedestrians have the right of way at most intersections that do not have traffic lights, whether the intersection is marked with a crosswalk or not.

In a recent example of a pedestrian accident, a man was injured in Las Vegas early in the morning last Friday, April 19th, at 3:43am. The accident occurred where Ocean Drive meets East Tropicana Avenue. Law enforcement officials are still in search of the vehicle and its driver following the accident. A man, aged 25 years old, was in the process of crossing Ocean Drive on foot. He was struck by a car that was coming from the west, and going east, on Tropicana Avenue. The driver then appears to have fled the scene of this pedestrian accident in Southern Nevada. Some early reports indicate that the type of vehicle involved in this crash closely resembled a taxi. The 25 year old man who was struck by this vehicle was said to have sustained damage to his face, as well as several broken bones. He is said to be recovering from these non-critical, nor likely to be fatal, injuries.

Unfortunately, these types of injury accidents – those involving a vehicle striking a pedestrian in Clark County – are all too common. Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law have been helping the victims of accidents like this get the care and coverage they deserve since the law office opened in 2003. They know the law, they know insurance companies, and they know how to make sure you get taken care of following a horrible occurance such as this story. To begin down the road to recovery and getting the compensation you need to recover at your own pace, call Benson and Bingham Attorneys at Law today.

Pimp Responsible for Wrongful Deaths in Las Vegas Extradited

April 19th, 2013 No comments

The sensational story of a shooting, several wrongful deaths in Las Vegas, a car accident in Clark County, and the man responsible for it all took a new turn recently. The story is that of a rapper and alleged pimp who was involved in a horrific scene in Clark County, who is alleged to have been the perpetrator of several wrongful deaths in Clark County following a shootout, a car accident, a man hunt, and now, an extradition. If ever the unimaginable happens, and the life of a loved one is claimed by the actions of a 3rd party, you may need to file a case of wrongful death in Clark County to ensure that you are covered as you sort through the horrible aftermath. Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law can take care of your legal needs to make sure you have the chance to grieve for your loved one, and not have to worry about the details.

The man, a twenty seven year old named Ammar Harris, had been arrested in California following the stunning shootout on the Las Vegas Strip. He was sent back to Nevada, and given over into the custody of Nevada police officials close to midnight on Monday. It took some time for the extradition to take place because a California wanted to be 100% sure that Harris was the same man wanted in the Las Vegas wrongful death and automobile accident case. Fingers prints and photographic evidence was used to determine that Harris was in fact the same individual wanted for the crime and wrongful deaths in Southern Nevada. These types of cases can be difficult, and if your loved one is killed in an accident where another person was at fault, the last thing you want to have to do is worry about the cost or details of a trial or fighting with an insurance company. Call Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law, we can take care of those details so that you have the time to spend with your family, and aren’t worried about the cost or the details of a legal action.

Our experienced legal team can take care of the details that you shouldn’t have to worry about, and make sure you’re free to grieve and heal.

Pedestrian Accident in Las Vegas Kills 1, Sparks Neighborhood Calls for Change

April 14th, 2013 No comments

Residents are speaking out to demand changes and safety upgrades at an intersection where a wheelchair-bound man was recently killed when he was struck by a school bus. Community members are demanding action to make the intersection safer before another person is injured at this Las Vegas intersection. This had been a bad year for accidents and deaths from traffic accidents in Clark County; so far the number of fatal accidents is on pace to set a tragic record with 36 people having already been fatally wounded on city streets and roadways.

At this particular intersection, residents believe that such terrible occurrences could easily be prevented. They believe that, without changes such as a traffic light or even a flashing signal, there will continue to be pedestrians who are injured in car crashes at this Las Vegas intersection.

This is the intersection, the cross street of Reno and Maryland Parkway, where recently a man in a motorized wheelchair, age  81, died after being struck by a school bus, despite having been in a clearly marked pedestrian crossway. The exact details and story of this accident in Southern Nevada are still being investigated.

Community members are not satisfied, and feel that more needs to be done to prevent horrible tragedies like this from happening in the future. They feel these types of pedestrian accidents in their Las Vegas neighborhood are too common, and really just what happens when people are not notified by a traffic signal or sign to pay extra attention.

Pedestrian accidents in Las Vegas are all too common, unfortunately. If you’re ever injured in an accident, you should speak with one of our top-tier attorneys here at Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law. Yellow Flashing Turn Signals Meant to Lower Injury Accidents in Clark County Are on the Rise

April 13th, 2013 No comments

A change in how traffic lights work is meant to lower the rate of auto accidents in Southern Nevada, officials have said. The major change is that many left hand turns at traffic lights all across the Las Vegas Valley are now signaled by a flashing yellow light on the traffic signal. This change is one that city leaders, Regional Transportation Officials, and others believe will lower the rate of injury accidents in Las Vegas. It has, however and like all change, led to much confusion. These same leaders and public officials admit that they have been getting plenty of questions from confused and befuddled drivers. Beyond this, there have been many, many reports of drivers on the road not knowing what to do with the lights. The may stop altogether, thinking it’s a yellow light that’s about to turn red. They may stop and start, stop and start, and stop and start again, not being clear about what the yellow light means.

Officials have stressed that the flashing yellow light is the same, functionally, as a solid green light. It means that oncoming traffic and pedestrians at the crosswalk have the right of way, but you can turn when safe. This change to the flashing yellow light is supposed to lower the number of injury accidents in Clark County, as it has done in other parts of the state and country. In Henderson, Nevada, for example, there have been 20 percent fewer crashes at intersections where the flashing yellow lights have been placed. While well over 200 of these flashing yellow signals have been put up around the Las Vegas Valley since 2009, many more are yet to go up. Metro Police, officials from Southern Nevada’s Regional Transportation Commission, The Department of Transportation of Nevada, Clark County, and the cities of Henderson and Las Vegas are more than half done with a huge plan to place more than 400 yellow flashing turn signals at traffic signals throughout the area, and thereby make the roads safer and freer of auto accidents in the Las Vegas Valley.

Vehicle crashes in the Clark County are painful. Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law can assist you in settling any claims, and getting the compensation you need to move on with your life. We have experienced attorneys who have been working at our firm for 10 years, since 2003, helping people injured in car accidents fight for their rights to be covered. Call our team anytime, we can help.

Vehicle Crashes into Las Vegas Strip-area Restaurant

A Lexus recently smashed into a Las Vegas eatery, injuring ten patrons and staff. The car accident occurred in a restaurant just off the Las Vegas strip. The sedan, driving eastbound on Sahara Avenue, spun after sliding into the median, bashing into two vehicles before parking itself inside the restaurant, according to other people who were at the scene. As if this wasn’t enough unexpectedness for frightened, excited, injured, or confused patrons of the establishment, The Egg & I, the driver and a passenger of the Lexus sedan attempted to escape the scene by jumping out of the car and trying to make a getaway. Several quick-thinking and civic-minded customers grabbed the would-be perpetrators of this remarkable almost-hit-and-run accident near Southern Nevada’s world-famous Las Vegas Strip. The ten individuals injured in this stunning vehicle accident in Las Vegas were taken to UMC as well as Sunrise Hospital for treatment, according to fire officials, some of them with very serious injuries. If you’re ever injured in an accident, vehicle or otherwise (whether it’s as sensational an accident as this or just an “ordinary” injury accident), you need the legal expertise of Benson & and Bingham attorneys at law. Reports indicate that as many as four people, possibly including a boy as young as 13 years old, may have been stuck below the vehicle in this Southern Nevada crash where it came to a stop inside the restaurant. Apparently the Lexus came to rest propped up on some furniture inside the establishment, preventing it from seriously injuring some people who attempted to take shelter just below where the vehicle eventually came to a stop. Thankfully no one was killed in the accident, though plenty of people were injured. People who are in this type of situation – the victims of a terrible accident – need the best representation to make sure they can pay their medical bills, afford to take the time off of work to heal, and be compensated for their pain and suffering. Benson and Bingham is the firm that savvy accident victims choose to make sure that they are covered, and justly compensated for being in such a horrible situation at no fault of their own. Benson & Bingham is a law firm where you come first. They pride themselves on their service: not only on the legal service of making sure you’re covered if you’re injured, but also on their service in terms of how they treat you as a person, and how you feel as a client. Benson & Bingham has been serving clients since 2003, and has secured as much as $24,000,000 over two years for their clients since them.

Southern Nevada Motorcycle Crash Victim’s Family Promotes Safety

March 31st, 2013 No comments

The family of a man killed in a motorcycle accident in Las Vegas a weekend ago is speaking out about the accident. The man’s son, 27, cautioned that motorcyclists should proceed with more caution. The nephew of the victim also spoke out, declaring the fatal accident in Clark County a tragedy.

The deceased was driving a Harley Davidson on Saturday when a vehicle pulled out in front of him; he was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision. If you’re involved in a motorcycle accident in Clark County, Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law can help.

An instructor at College of Southern Nevada, who teaches a Motorcycle Safety Program, advocates awareness and safety as ways to prevent motorcycle accidents in Southern Nevada. He points out that the protection a motorcycle offers is limited compared to the protection offered by a car. On a motorcycle, the protection is only what you are wearing in terms of motorcycle gear. Additionally, the instructor pointed out, motorcycle drivers must handle more tasks than if you were driving a car. Motorcycle accidents in Las Vegas are common, and if you’re ever involved in one, you should turn to experienced motorcycle accident attorneys like Benson & Bingham.

The victim’s family is focused on ways to get the word out regarding motorcycle safety. They are hoping to reach other families and hopefully prevent similar motorcycle accidents, and any personal injury accidents in Southern Nevada. The message of the family is that motorcycle drivers must constantly be on the lookout for dangers, constantly paying attention to the road. Additionally, motorcyclists should always be planning for what they would do to avoid potential accidents.

If you’re ever a party involved in a motorcycle or any vehicle accident, Benson & Bingham can help. Benson & Bingham are licensed Nevada attorneys. They are a top firm that handles personal injury cases, automobile accidents (including motorcycle accidents). They also handle pedestrian accidents, negligence issues involving casinos with corporate parents in Nevada. They have successfully taken on insurance companies to get the most for their clients time and time again, and offer free initial consultations to their clients. You should never take on big casinos or insurance companies on your own, nor should you ever accept their first offer. Benson & Bingham are here to help. Benson & Bingham know that legal fees can seem daunting to people involved in their first litigation, and will both walk you through the process, and work with you to set up a fee structure that works for you.
