Nevada roads are dangerous places. We got another reminder of this vivid and terrible fact yesterday, when a 19 year old from California was killed in car accident in the Las Vegas area on Interstate 15, to the south of town. Many people are killed or injured in car accidents in Clark County every year, and Interstate 15 all throughout the area, though particularly in the vicinity of the iconic Las Vegas Strip, is one of the most dangerous places for vehicle accidents in the country. Have you or a loved one been injured in a vehicle accident in Southern Nevada, and need a lawyer? Or, god forbid, has a loved one been killed in just such an accident? Then you need an injury lawyer in Las Vegas, one who knows the law and has a long track record of getting clients the compensation and coverage they need. Call Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law for a free consultation and to get started on your claim today.
According to a trooper from the Nevada Highway Patrol, the incident took place shortly before 4 in the morning yesterday. It occurred between Jean and St. Rose Parkway. It was purported to be an accident involving only one vehicle, the vehicle driven by the man who died. The pickup truck he was driving lost control, and the deceased was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead there on site. The fatal accident in Las Vegas caused a closure of this busy highway; motorists were redirected through Sloan while the crash was being cleared off the highway. The traffic diversion was cleared shortly after 8 in the morning when the highway was reopened following this accident. The 29 year old killed in the car accident in Las Vegas was from California, though it was not immediately clear if he was in Las Vegas on vacation. Many people visit Las Vegas each year to vacation, and unfortunately many are involved in accidents. Last year, on December 7th, a Las Vegas sightseeing helicopter carrying five people, the pilot, two from Kansas celebrating their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary and two honeymooners from India crashed just sixteen miles from Las Vegas. The two couples were on vacation, and had paid tour operator, Sundance Helicopters, to take them on a helicopter tour of the Hoover Dam. Emergency personnel rushed to the scene, but unfortunately, there were no survivors from the crash. The company had also been involved in 2003 when a helicopter taking tourists on a tour of the Grand Canyon crashed after its rotors struck the walls of the national monument. If you have been injured or had a relative killed in a Las Vegas vacation accident or crash, contact Benson and Bingham today for a free legal consultation.
The NTSB, which investigates tragic air accidents across the United States, has issued its report on the December helicopter accident that resulted in the tragic deaths of the two couples. The board states that certain steering mechanisms and other small parts including bolts and screws were not found at the scene of the crash. However, the parts of the helicopter that are normally attached to the steering mechanism and bolts were found, and there is little chance the parts would be missing even after a catastrophic accident. Investigators are assuming the bolts and other small parts were secured before the helicopter took flight, were installed incorrectly and fell off during flight. These findings are consistent with the Eurocopter AS350’s reported climbs, dives and turns during the crash. If you have lost a relative due to a Hoover Dam helicopter crash, and wish to recover money for lost work, travel costs, hospital costs and pain and suffering, contact Benson and Bingham today.

Local authorities have stated that at the high altitudes and dry climate around the dam, engines not properly maintained often experience difficulty. Many over heat and that overheating can quickly turn into engine fires. The bus company, Bravo Express, immediately rescued the stranded international tourists with a replacement bus.
