Southern Nevada Motorcycle Crash Victim’s Family Promotes Safety

March 31st, 2013 No comments

The family of a man killed in a motorcycle accident in Las Vegas a weekend ago is speaking out about the accident. The man’s son, 27, cautioned that motorcyclists should proceed with more caution. The nephew of the victim also spoke out, declaring the fatal accident in Clark County a tragedy.

The deceased was driving a Harley Davidson on Saturday when a vehicle pulled out in front of him; he was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision. If you’re involved in a motorcycle accident in Clark County, Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law can help.

An instructor at College of Southern Nevada, who teaches a Motorcycle Safety Program, advocates awareness and safety as ways to prevent motorcycle accidents in Southern Nevada. He points out that the protection a motorcycle offers is limited compared to the protection offered by a car. On a motorcycle, the protection is only what you are wearing in terms of motorcycle gear. Additionally, the instructor pointed out, motorcycle drivers must handle more tasks than if you were driving a car. Motorcycle accidents in Las Vegas are common, and if you’re ever involved in one, you should turn to experienced motorcycle accident attorneys like Benson & Bingham.

The victim’s family is focused on ways to get the word out regarding motorcycle safety. They are hoping to reach other families and hopefully prevent similar motorcycle accidents, and any personal injury accidents in Southern Nevada. The message of the family is that motorcycle drivers must constantly be on the lookout for dangers, constantly paying attention to the road. Additionally, motorcyclists should always be planning for what they would do to avoid potential accidents.

If you’re ever a party involved in a motorcycle or any vehicle accident, Benson & Bingham can help. Benson & Bingham are licensed Nevada attorneys. They are a top firm that handles personal injury cases, automobile accidents (including motorcycle accidents). They also handle pedestrian accidents, negligence issues involving casinos with corporate parents in Nevada. They have successfully taken on insurance companies to get the most for their clients time and time again, and offer free initial consultations to their clients. You should never take on big casinos or insurance companies on your own, nor should you ever accept their first offer. Benson & Bingham are here to help. Benson & Bingham know that legal fees can seem daunting to people involved in their first litigation, and will both walk you through the process, and work with you to set up a fee structure that works for you.

A freak rollover Las Vegas automobile accident has resulted in six members of a Las Vegas family in critical condition. Details surrounding the accident are unclear, but it seems to have happened moments after a parking lot hit and run accident and a teenage panicking. At a Toys-R-Us near the scene of the accident, Springs Preserve, witnesses say the vehicle in the rollover accident hit a car in the parking lot of the Toys-R-Us and quickly fled the scene. Approaching the Spring Preserve, the SUV hit a bump which caused the driver of the vehicle to lose control – causing the vehicle to flip over and injure Blanca Arreola, the 16-year old driver and four juveniles between 3 and 15 years of age. If you have been the victim of a Las Vegas hit and run crash, Benson and Bingham can help you recover money spent on hospital bills, for pain and suffering and even for lost work.

58-Year Old Las Vegas Man Critically Injured In Las Vegas Hit and Run Accident

March 14th, 2013 No comments

Another day, another Las Vegas hit and run accident. Yesterday at around 2:45pm, there was a hit and run automobile bicycle accident on Alta Dr. near South Rainbow Blvd. Witnesses to the accident state that the 58-year old man on the bicycle was in a designated bicycle lane at the time of the crash. The vehicle that is alleged of hitting the bicyclist was a 4-door sedan that had a gray or silver paint job. Las Vegas Metro Police have requested that anyone with knowledge of the accident please contact them. People wishing to remain anonymous but with knowledge of this Southern Nevada bicycle accident have been asked to call crime stoppers.

For years, Nevada has been passing significant laws with the intention of promoting bicycle safety. In 1971, for example, Nevada outlawed the use of a motor vehicle to intentionally harm or destroy a bicyclist or bicycle. In 2009, Nevada made all traffic laws that applied to automobiles apply to the drivers of bicycles. In 2011, the Nevada legislature passed and Governor Sandoval signed a law that required motorists to have three feet distance from a person on a bicycle while passing them.

Las Vegas Area Police Departments Increasing Enforcement At Dangerous Intersections

March 11th, 2013 No comments

Statistical analysis and experience have taught Las Vegas area police departments and state and local safety agencies what intersections and stretches of highway are the most common places for Las Vegas car crash injuries and Las Vegas pedestrian accidents. With this knowledge, and the desire to reduce the rising number of automobile injuries in Clark County, Southern Nevada police departments have increased law enforcement presence in Las Vegas’ most dangerous intersections. Las Vegas Assemblyman Proposes Bill Banning Texting While Crossing The Street

Even though Nevada is seen by many as a libertarian paradise due to the Silver State’s embrace of legalized prostitution and its early acceptance of casino gambling, 2012’s rash of Las Vegas pedestrian deaths and 2013’s pace to beat 2012’s near record breaking numbers has state, county and city lawmakers and law enforcement officials proposing significant new laws designed to increase pedestrian safety. One of those provisions, a law to ban texting while walking received its first legislative hearing in the Nevada Assembly last week. The bill is patterned on the bill recently passed by the New Jersey town of Ft. Lee. If you or a relative has been hurt or killed in a Southern Nevada pedestrian accident, contact Benson and Bingham today.

The bill, as proposed by longtime Democratic Nevada Assemblyman Harvey Mumford, would fine people crossing the street while using their phones $100 for a second violation and $250 for a third and subsequent violation. The first time a person is ticketed for using their cell phone while crossing the street would be given a written warning. The New Jersey statute fines people $85 for breaking the law. A number of Democratic Assembly members asked significant questions during the hearing on the bill. Las Vegas Assemblywoman Heidi Swank wanted to know if the proposed law applied to those reading a book while walking. Transportation Committee Chairman Richard Carrillo wanted to know if he could be ticketed for just looking at his phone, possibly to answer an incoming call.

Benson and Bingham is the leading Las Vegas personal injury law firm, with significant experience in all types of personal injury law including Clark County pedestrian accidents, Las Vegas automobile accidents, Clark County wrongful death and even casino accidents outside the Silver State when the company’s corporate parent is based in Nevada. Early Morning Las Vegas Casino Fire Scare Causes Evacuation of Nearly 1000 Hotel Rooms

February 5th, 2013 No comments

Early this morning, a Las Vegas casino fire resulted in the evacuation of nearly 1000 Las Vegas hotel rooms at around 2am. The fire, which did not result in any Las Vegas casino injuries, was caused when an air ventilation system overheated and began smoking. Since the fire danger originated in the hotel’s air ventilation system, the smell of smoke and its attendant smoke inhalation threat spread quickly. Fire and smoke alarms sounded in one tower of the Las Vegas Excalibur, causing the evacuation; guests were allowed to return to their rooms around 4am. If you have been injured in a Las Vegas casino accident, contact Benson and Bingham for a free legal consultation today.

In 1980 in a fire at the MGM Hotel in Las Vegas, 87 people were killed. 12 weeks later, another fire, this time with arson as the cause, killed an additional eight people. These fires, due to the large amount of Southern Nevada Las Vegas casino injuries and deaths, caused the adoption of a number of significant fire safety laws for Southern Nevada hotels. These strict guidelines prescribe evacuations and other measures when hotel smoke detectors sound. If someone you love has been injured or killed in a Clark County casino accident, contact Benson and Bingham today.

Mary Beckman signed had signed up for Match.com looking to make new friends and even possibly find the next love of her life. She’d been on a few dates and met some nice men when Match.com facilitated her meeting with Wade Ridley in September 2010. She dated Mr.  Ridley for 8 days when she ended the relationship, and in just four months she was stabbed by him four times. She was stabbed eight times in the torso, twice in the head and after Mr. Ridley had broken his knife, he began to kick and stomp Ms. Beckman in the head. If you have been injured in Las Vegas through no fault of your own, contact Benson and Bingham today for a free legal consultation.

According to Ms. Beckman’s attorney, Match.com does not safely provide introductions to its members and should research individuals who sign up for its service. Few Nevada Laws Regarding Exotic Animals In Las Vegas

December 8th, 2012 No comments

Imagine a 6-foot lizard living next door? Imagine if your neighbor owned a big cat like a lion, tiger or cheetah? Almost all humans are fascinated by exotic and dangerous animals – their beauty and their inherent danger draw us in. It’s special when we see an exotic animal – because in our urban and suburban lives, we very rarely encounter the majesty and terror that comes from being in the presence of a gigantic lizard, a large cat or even one of the great primates. Obviously, when these animals are housed near humans, much care must be taken to prevent Las Vegas animal attacks and other horrific incidents. However, Nevada few to now laws laws regarding exotic and dangerous animals, however, municipalities like Clark County doe require registration. If you have been injured by an exotic animal in Las Vegas, Benson and Bingham can help you recover money spent on medical bills, lost work and even pain and suffering.

Earlier this summer two great apes (chimpanzees) escaped from a while animal enclosure in Las Vegas near Ann Rd. and Jones Blvd. The owners of the two chimps, CJ and Buddy, had permits for the chimpanzees, however, they escaped their enclosures. The officer, fearing an animal attack in Southern Nevada similar to the attack in Connecticut in 2009, shot and killed Buddy.

1 Dead and Two Injured in Las Vegas Street Racing Accident

December 1st, 2012 No comments

As if Las Vegas hasn’t had enough traffic fatalities in 2012, a Las Vegas street racing accident on Friday night left one dead and two in critical condition when an Acura Integra struck a light pole on Maryland Pkwy around 9pm on Friday night. The men, all three aged 21 and from North Las Vegas were rushed to University Hospital after the accident. The death was listed as the 97th person who was killed in a traffic fatality in Vegas this year. If you have lost a loved one in a Las Vegas traffic fatality, contact Benson and Bingham today. We can help the surviving family members of a Las Vegas automobile death recover money for lost work, hospital bills and pain and suffering.

Street racing is a serious offense that can result in the loss of your license and the impounding of your automobile. In the last decade, 188 people were killed in California alone due to street racing. These are deaths that usually occur to young men with little or no criminal record or traffic citations. Alcohol is usually not involved in street racing deaths. Citations for illegal street racing can also carry significant penalties of up to $1000 and can even entail jail time of 3 months or more. If you have been ticketed for an illegal Las Vegas street race, 24hourticketpower.com can help you fight or fix your citation.
