Good Samaritan Injured in Hit and Run Accident in Las Vegas

They say no good deed goes unpunished and unfortunately we have a new piece of evidence for that claim, stemming from a recent injury accident in Las Vegas where a man who stopped to help another driver who had been in a car accident was hit by a third vehicle as he was helping the woman. In a cruel twist of fate, and terrible piece of irony, the car that hit this good Samaritan did not stop to help or even see if the man was OK – the vehicle drove away, making this a hit and run accident. The driver of the vehicle that caused the hit and run injury accident in Southern Nevada, a white Mitsubishi, was eventually apprehended, however, and arrested. His vehicle had quite fittingly gotten a flat tire, presumably from the accident, and he and his passenger were found changing it in a parking lot off of Interstate 95, on Jones Boulevard. If you’re in an injury accident in Southern Nevada and need an attorney, call Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law to get the best service, and the best compensation possible, in the Las Vegas Valley.

The original accident occurred early this morning on the Decatur Boulevard on-ramp to Interstate 95. A woman, who was allegedly driving under the influence in Las Vegas, is reported to have lost control of her green Toyota Scion and hit a concrete wall. She did not sustain injuries in the crash. The victim of the hit and run stopped to help, and was then hit by the aforementioned white Mitsubishi sometime just after 4 in the morning. The man was severely injured from this auto accident, and taken to University Medical Center in Southern Nevada. He was listed in critical condition as of our most recent update. If you are hurt in an accident like this and need a lawyer, Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law should be your first call. Pedestrian injured in vehicle hit-and-run accident in Clark County

April 20th, 2013 No comments

Las Vegas and Clark County in general are dangerous places for pedestrians. Despite much attention and attempts at prevention from police and other law enforcement and public safety agencies and groups, there still remain a high number of pedestrians involved in auto accidents in Southern Nevada. From the middle of August, 2008, to the summer of 2011, for example, there were 2,060 accidents in the Las Vegas valley involving cars and pedestrians. Should a vehicle ever strike you as you’re walking in a pedestrian right of way anywhere in the Las Vegas Valley, call Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law. We know your rights, and can make sure that you are adequately covered in the event of an accident in which you are not at fault. If you’re not sure if you’re at fault, call our legal team today. For instance, you may not know that pedestrians have the right of way at most intersections that do not have traffic lights, whether the intersection is marked with a crosswalk or not.

In a recent example of a pedestrian accident, a man was injured in Las Vegas early in the morning last Friday, April 19th, at 3:43am. The accident occurred where Ocean Drive meets East Tropicana Avenue. Law enforcement officials are still in search of the vehicle and its driver following the accident. A man, aged 25 years old, was in the process of crossing Ocean Drive on foot. He was struck by a car that was coming from the west, and going east, on Tropicana Avenue. The driver then appears to have fled the scene of this pedestrian accident in Southern Nevada. Some early reports indicate that the type of vehicle involved in this crash closely resembled a taxi. The 25 year old man who was struck by this vehicle was said to have sustained damage to his face, as well as several broken bones. He is said to be recovering from these non-critical, nor likely to be fatal, injuries.

Unfortunately, these types of injury accidents – those involving a vehicle striking a pedestrian in Clark County – are all too common. Benson & Bingham Attorneys at Law have been helping the victims of accidents like this get the care and coverage they deserve since the law office opened in 2003. They know the law, they know insurance companies, and they know how to make sure you get taken care of following a horrible occurance such as this story. To begin down the road to recovery and getting the compensation you need to recover at your own pace, call Benson and Bingham Attorneys at Law today.

A freak rollover Las Vegas automobile accident has resulted in six members of a Las Vegas family in critical condition. Details surrounding the accident are unclear, but it seems to have happened moments after a parking lot hit and run accident and a teenage panicking. At a Toys-R-Us near the scene of the accident, Springs Preserve, witnesses say the vehicle in the rollover accident hit a car in the parking lot of the Toys-R-Us and quickly fled the scene. Approaching the Spring Preserve, the SUV hit a bump which caused the driver of the vehicle to lose control – causing the vehicle to flip over and injure Blanca Arreola, the 16-year old driver and four juveniles between 3 and 15 years of age. Dangerous Las Vegas Intersection Has Seen No Improvements in Nearly A Year

March 17th, 2013 No comments

While Las Vegas area police departments and local, state and county health, transportation and safety agencies are working hard to reduce the number of Las Vegas pedestrian accidents in 2013, however, many Las Vegas residents are saying that safety upgrades are not moving fast enough. At one Northeast Valley intersection, local residents are wondering why improvements to the intersection of E. Lake Mead Blvd and N Sloan St. have not begun since local authorities were alerted to the dangerous intersection over nine months ago. Currently, the intersection has crosswalks and even pedestrian crossing caution signs, however, Las Vegas residents living in the neighborhood believe a flashing yellow light or even a traffic signal may be needed. If you or a member of your family has been injured or killed in a Clark County pedestrian accident, contact Benson and Bingham for a free legal consultation today.

Last June, while Las Vegas was in the midst of one of its most deadly years for Las Vegas pedestrian deaths, County Commissioner from Clark County, Tom Collins and the state’s Department of Transportation (NDOT) said the intersection needed to be reviewed for safety reasons. Unfortunately, nearly a year later, no improvements have been made to the intersection. An analysis of the situation has shown that NDOT and Clark County have debated over who has jurisdiction over the intersection. While many believe the intersection is dangerous, there have been no Clark County pedestrian deaths at the intersection in 2012 or 2013.

Southern Nevada pedestrian accidents happen every day. If you have been the victim of any type of Las Vegas automobile accident, Benson and Bingham can help you recover financially and recoup money spent on medical bills, for lost work and pain and suffering. 58-Year Old Las Vegas Man Critically Injured In Las Vegas Hit and Run Accident

March 14th, 2013 No comments

Another day, another Las Vegas hit and run accident. Yesterday at around 2:45pm, there was a hit and run automobile bicycle accident on Alta Dr. near South Rainbow Blvd. Witnesses to the accident state that the 58-year old man on the bicycle was in a designated bicycle lane at the time of the crash. The vehicle that is alleged of hitting the bicyclist was a 4-door sedan that had a gray or silver paint job. Las Vegas Metro Police have requested that anyone with knowledge of the accident please contact them. People wishing to remain anonymous but with knowledge of this Southern Nevada bicycle accident have been asked to call crime stoppers.

For years, Nevada has been passing significant laws with the intention of promoting bicycle safety. In 1971, for example, Nevada outlawed the use of a motor vehicle to intentionally harm or destroy a bicyclist or bicycle. In 2009, Nevada made all traffic laws that applied to automobiles apply to the drivers of bicycles. In 2011, the Nevada legislature passed and Governor Sandoval signed a law that required motorists to have three feet distance from a person on a bicycle while passing them.

Nevada Senate Considers Bill Designed To Limit Las Vegas Animal Attacks

March 13th, 2013 No comments

Last summer’s Clark County chimpanzee escape has led the Nevada legislature to consider regular Nevadans from owning exotics animals such as bears, great apes like chimpanzees, orangutans, and gorillas and large cats such as lions, tigers and leopards. While there was no Las Vegas exotic animal injury associated with last year’s chimp escape, the ferocity of these wild beasts could lead to a deadly Southern Nevada animal attack. The bill, SB245, whose primary sponsor is Republican Minority Leader, Michael Roberson, also prohibits Nevadans from owning exotic reptiles like Gila monsters and alligators. SB245 grandfathers in anyone who currently owns a dangerous or exotic animal, and it only applies to the new purchase of such creatures. The bill also reduces the need of tragic shooting of exotic animals by Nevada law enforcement when they inevitably escape. If you or a family member have been injured or killed in a Southern Nevada animal attack, contact Benson and Bingham today.

Last year, the private residence that housed exotic animals such as chimpanzees had two escape incidents that resulted in one of the great apes being killed by Las Vegas law enforcement. The other chimpanzee, CJ, was taken from her owners when she escaped a second time. The owners of the two chimpanzees, who are trained and licensed animal trainers, allege that CJ did not escape on her own and was freed by militant animal rights activists.

Benson and Bingham was founded in 2003 by cousins Benjamin Bingham and Joseph Benson to assist Nevadans injured through no fault of their own. While our personal injury law firm can’t help with healing your wounds, we can make sure that you or your family recovers financially. We have significant experience with all types of personal injury law, including Clark County animal attacks, Las Vegas pedestrian accidents and even Southern Nevada wrongful death cases.
